I'm not sure where you heard that "much hotter" comment, but it's less that 10% hotter than Propane. You'd probably see a greater difference by choosing a better torch than by switching gases. You may be confusing MAPP gas with MAP-Pro. I don't think you can get MAPP gas anymore.
